Welcome to My Practice

My approach to therapy is to empower people to develop resilience in the face of adversity, and inspire change in the way they relate to themselves and others, offering new potentials for the future. Adopting an integrative strength-focused approach, I enable people to make sense of their difficulties by sharing psychological formulation and collaboratively identifying goals for therapy.

The focus is also on identifying and exploring repeated patterns of behaviour, and ways of thinking that may no longer be helpful, contributing to feelings of distress or upset. For example, by understanding how self-criticism has developed, its function and emotional expression, we can learn to increase our compassionate awareness towards ourselves and others.

It is hoped that people will feel able to face life’s challenges by learning new ways of coping, and develop a renewed sense of meaning and purpose as they progress through therapy.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect in the first appointment?
The first appointment is a one-hour assessment session.  This is an opportunity for you to talk about what has been difficult for you, what areas of life (e.g., work, college, relationships) you feel are most impacted, how you’re coping with life's stressful experiences, and why you’ve chosen to come to therapy now.

How often will I attend therapy and for how long?
It is usual practice to attend therapy on a weekly basis to ensure commitment by allocating the same day/time each week, and a consistent approach to the therapeutic change process.
