Welcome to My Practice
My approach to therapy is to empower people to develop resilience in the face of adversity, and inspire change in the way they relate to themselves and others, offering new potentials for the future. Adopting an integrative strength-focused approach, I enable people to make sense of their difficulties by sharing psychological formulation and collaboratively identifying goals for therapy.
The focus is also on identifying and exploring repeated patterns of behaviour, and ways of thinking that may no longer be helpful, contributing to feelings of distress or upset. For example, by understanding how self-criticism has developed, its function and emotional expression, we can learn to increase our compassionate awareness towards ourselves and others.
It is hoped that people will feel able to face life’s challenges by learning new ways of coping, and develop a renewed sense of meaning and purpose as they progress through therapy.
Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect in the first appointment?
The first appointment is a one-hour assessment session. This is an opportunity for you to talk about what has been difficult for you, what areas of life (e.g., work, college, relationships) you feel are most impacted, how you’re coping with life's stressful experiences, and why you’ve chosen to come to therapy now.
How often will I attend therapy and for how long?
It is usual practice to attend therapy on a weekly basis to ensure commitment by allocating the same day/time each week, and a consistent approach to the therapeutic change process.

During a difficult period in my life and as someone who struggles with anxiety day to day, I decided to try Cognitive Behaviour Therapy with Michelle. The difference in the way I feel and behave is very visible. I feel so much calmer and for the first time in my life, I feel like I have tools to manage stress before it overloads me. Michelle is so welcoming, puts you at ease straight away, and she is very caring and understanding. She really has your best interests at heart and I enjoyed the sessions with her very much. I would highly recommend her as a therapist and will definitely attend in future if I need to.Client
Michelle is a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist. Her warm and caring nature is a true asset. I attended Michelle on the advice from my daughter and sister. I had gone through a tough few years with family illnesses and was very anxious and “snappy". I learnt that my anxiety originated from issues when I was much younger and I did not have the tools to deal with them. I learnt new techniques to deal with my anxiety and listened to various mindfulness recordings during the day, sent by Michelle. I am living now a lot more relaxed and when the anxiety starts to build up I now have the techniques to deal with it. I know there will always be times when I need a little help and hopefully Michelle will be there for more sessions.Client
Michelle helped me when I was going through a difficult time. I had anxiety which I just could not control. Attending therapy sessions with Michelle really helped. She provided me with skills to manage my anxiety and I got my confidence back. It really feels good to be back in control of my life. Michelle makes you feel at ease and explains why you are feeling the way you are. Understanding helps you to heal, a listening ear helps you to express what’s causing the anxiety, and Michelle supports you with this. I’m glad I picked Michelle to help me heal. My anxiety is gone, my blood pressure is normal again, and I’m more confident now than I ever was.Client
